Plant a Row-Grow a Row

How your garden can help feed people in need…

(a program sponsored by Lemieux Composting)

Established by the Canadian Association of Food Banks, the Composting Council of Canada and the Garden Writers Association of America, this program builds on the long-standing tradition of gardeners loving to share their harvest with others.

The program invites local gardeners to grow an extra row of vegetables and donate extra fruit and vegetables to our local food bank or soup kitchen.

Lemieux Composting is entering its third year of this program. The last two years were very successful. Lemieux’s will continue to act as a central drop-off location for any donated produce.  They will drop off the donations daily to local organizations (i.e. Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army, Vincent Place) Donations will be accepted 7 days/week, between 8am and 8pm.

They are encouraging local farmers, gardeners, growers and anyone with a bit of extra space to grow an extra row of vegetables for this great local food security initiative.
